  1. As is, this is not a compound sentence. A compound sentence has 2 independent clauses. Each has a subject, a verb and a complete idea. between these 2 independent clauses is a coordinator. A comma must be place d BEFORE the coordinator.
    Your subject = The king (of Africa)
    your verb= no verb- if you add 'is comfortably flopped.." then you have a verb
